Trinidad and Tobago Wins Most Original Poster at the II Regional Workshop on the Implementation of the Inter-American Development Bank’s Medium Term Action Plan for Development Effectiveness (PRODEV)

Staff of the Programme Management Office of the Ministry of Planning and Development participated in the II Regional Workshop on the Implementation of the Inter-American Development Bank’s Medium Term Action Plan for Development Effectiveness (PRODEV) during September 10-14, 2007 at the IDB Headquarters in Washington DC.

The Workshop included participants from the Caribbean and Latin America who benefited from the sharing of information and experiences on the main objectives, components, progress and results achieved regarding the execution of the PRODEV Technical Cooperation operation throughout the region.

During the workshop, the participants presented posters depicting the PRODEV framework in their countries. Trinidad and Tobago was awarded the prize for most original poster.

In Trinidad and Tobago, the PRODEV Technical Cooperation is being operationalised through the IDB-funded project Strengthening the Capacity of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (GORTT) to Manage for Results. The Technical Cooperation Agreement was signed on May 7, 2007 with an implementation period of 18 months. The Project seeks to promote public sector modernization by strengthening performance capacity and enhancing development effectiveness through the design and implementation of systems for managing for results in the areas of:

 planning and evaluation of investment programmes;

 project, design, execution and monitoring;

 budgetary and financial processes;

 procurement, auditing, oversight and control; and

 statistics and information systems.
