The Survey of Living Conditions is based on a sample of
households, selected at random, and appropriately stratified to take account of
characteristics known to exist in the population. The sample frame is based on
information generated from the last Census of the population. The Survey seeks
to derive information on the expenditure and income of households in order to
depict the standards of living enjoyed by the population. The SLC is intended to
provide a source of data on all groups in society with a focus on examining
poverty.
